But six mysterious months ago, Wilder quit the DOD under awkward circumstances. The DOD, who now desperately wants his help, is the very organization Wilder suspects is responsible for the mysterious death of his girlfriend, Brianna. The DOD also happens to be the organization who idealized Wilder’s hero (his Uncle Sor). To make matters worse, Wilder’s job at the DOD involved mostly paperwork, not high-stakes spy work.

Wilder’s one advantage, however, is something he invented while working at the DOD—the Tracer. The size of a cell phone, the Tracer machine produces a clear plastic Tab. Put that Tab on anybody. Then, use the Tracer to follow them anywhere in the world, like a miraculous GPS. And only days ago, the DOD paid Wilder to put one of his Tabs on the kidnapped husband!

Wilder’s enemy turns out to be an ex-DOD rival, Wayne Quayle,one of the most influential men in DC media. Instantly on the run, Wilder dodges death twice before he can get back to his apartment and retrieve his Tracer. No one with the potential to help Wilder is willing, and no one he meets will believe his story enough to get on board.

Raising the stakes even higher, Quayle’s men begin hostaging some of the people most dear to Wilder. Car chases, local cops, the betrayal of a close friend—every oncoming event seems bent on diverting Wilder from his goal. Just as the clock is about to run out, Wilder discovers how his quest, and the circumstances surrounding his girlfriend’s murder, all tie together.

Can Wilder rescue the future vice president’s husband, keep the media in the dark, find closure to the murder of his girlfriend, and beat the clock?
