My Story
My day-jobs have included being a lie detector operator for the Fort Worth Police Department, where I interacted with prostitutes, thieves, bureaucracy, and cops. I’ve sold shoes, clothing, slung hamburgers at Wendys, and struggled with binary and hexadecimal math as a computer programmer and database administrator. I’ve also had many behind-the-scenes jobs in television, as well as being a licensed NC Real Estate appraiser.
My appraising job has put me in the home of one billionaire and numerous rich people, not to mention some, well, strange people. I’ve also secretly sighed at being inside the homes of extremely poor people, many of whom were being foreclosed on. I’ve spoken with all these people long enough to understand fragments of their world and their mindsets. The biggest blessing of my life is that all these experiences have given me a sort of Charles Dickens life-perspective on the world we live in. God could not have designed a more perfect apprenticeship for a writer.
I’ve been married to the same lovely woman since my early twenties. I’ve been blessed with two beautiful daughters, two frighteningly beautiful and smart granddaughters, and two rough-and-ready grandsons. I currently enjoy living in Holly Spring, NC.
Some of the Things I Like
What the Heck is Pickleball?
It’s kind of like tennis, but much faster and played on a smaller court. The racquets are smaller, and the ball is more like a whiffle ball.
My neighborhood has quite a few Pickleball players. My wife and I play a few times a week, when the weather is good.
Occasionally, they have tournaments, and I shot/edited this video of the Womens’ Pickleball Tournament.
Video Editing is a hobby of mine, as well.
