ABOUT
Lewis Faulkner - Novelist/Author
About Me.
My day-jobs have included being a lie detector operator for the Fort Worth Police Department, where I interacted with prostitutes, thieves, bureaucracy, and cops. I’ve struggled with binary and hexadecimal math as a computer programmer and database administrator. I’ve also had many behind-the-scenes jobs in television, as well as being a licensed NC Real Estate appraiser.
My appraising job has put me in the home of one billionaire and numerous rich people, not to mention some, well, strange people. The biggest blessing of my life is that all these experiences have given me a sort of Charles Dickens life-perspective on the world we live in. God could not have designed a more perfect apprenticeship for a writer.
I’ve been married to the same lovely woman since my early twenties. I’ve been blessed with two beautiful daughters, two frighteningly beautiful and smart granddaughters, and two rough-and-ready grandsons. I currently live in Fuquay (few’-quay) Varina, NC.
It's Really Easy to Connect with Me
About You.
I help beginning novelists find their voice by sharing insights from four decades of storytelling, real-world encounters, and creative trial and error.
Over the past 40 years, I’ve written novels, worked with editors, rewritten more pages than I can count, and battled every kind of self-doubt a writer can face.
I’ve learned what works, what wastes time, and what keeps writers moving forward when motivation runs low.
My goal is to help you cut through the noise and get clear on what matters—voice, structure, momentum, and joy. Whether you’re writing your first page or finishing your fifth draft, I’m here to help you stay grounded and confident in your creative process.
At FaulknerFiction.com, you’ll find encouragement, straight talk, and craft tips from someone who’s lived a writer’s apprenticeship—and now wants to pass it on.
About Fueling My Creative Fire!
 Are YOU a Picklehead, too?
It’s kind of like tennis, but much faster and played on a smaller court. The racquets are smaller, and the ball is more like a whiffle ball.
My neighborhood has quite a few Pickleball players. My wife and I play a few times a week, when the weather is good.
Occasionally, they have tournaments, and I shot/edited this video of the Womens’ Pickleball Tournament.

Graphic Design and Video Editing is a hobby of mine, as well.
